After a surprise closure of the ‘world’s best cocktail bar’, Dandelyan, it is now set to reopen
its doors at London’s South Bank!
Raise your glass in celebration as the bar’s owner, Ryan Chetiyawardana (AKA Mr Lyan), has
announced that the award-winning bar was closed in order to “start afresh, and rise gain
as something brighter”.
That’s right – Dandelyan is going to be a brand-new cocktail bar!
The new concept
The new bar, named Lyaness, promises to bring a completely new concept and fresh look.
It will reportedly open in March, with the focus being on a plant-based cocktail menu
exploring “industrialisation and large scale food systems”.
A new design will also be rolled out.
British designer Tom Dixon’s original Art Deco-influenced décor – Chetiyawardana said:
‘We always want to continue to innovate, so an evolution seemed appropriate.’
Mr Lyan spoke in more detail about the new design of the bar:
‘Lionesses are the leaders,
the hunters, the badasses – that’s what we’ll be focusing on. We want to sharpen it up, give
it an edge, increase the energy and buzz.’
The details of how the bar will differ from Danelyan have not yet emerged. However, the
name ‘Lyaness’ could very well be an indicator as in March 2018, another property owned
by Mr Lyan, Super Lyan, hosted a female-focused pop-up for International Women’s Day.
Following this news, Mr Lyan and his team are also planning on expanding outside the UK. The rumour is that the team are launching new bars in Amsterdam and Washington DC.
